Fort Worth Sex Predator Sentenced to 120 Months

Fort Worth, Texas — A 49-year-old local man has been sentenced to serve 120 months in federal prison for his predatory actions against a minor. Scott Brandon Tosch, the man at the center of this grim tale, was handed down the sentence by Senior U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means following his guilty plea in December 2016.

Tosch was ordered to report to the Bureau of Prisons on June 26, 2017, marking a stark end to his criminal endeavors. According to court documents, the deplorable incident began when Tosch responded to an ad titled “hey bored and lookin for somethin to do while still summertime… school coming up soon… hmu” on Craigslist. The perpetrator had no idea that the ad was placed by an undercover Fort Worth Police Department officer posing as a 13-year-old boy.

The conversation quickly escalated into sexually graphic exchanges, culminating in Tosch’s plans to meet what he believed to be a young girl for sexual intercourse. The police were alerted and arrested Tosch on August 18, 2016, at the prearranged meeting spot. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, which has been tirelessly working to combat the rise of technology-facilitated child exploitation crimes.

Since its launch in May 2006, Project Safe Childhood has played a pivotal role in apprehending and prosecuting those who exploit children online. Under this initiative, the Department of Justice has filed over 20,000 cases against more than 19,000 defendants since FY 2011. The case against Tosch was investigated by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Fahey leading the prosecution.
