Francisco Javier Garibay Isais Sentenced

A Mexican national has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for unlawfully reentering the United States after being removed, announced U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. Francisco Javier Garibay Isais, 46, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John D. Russell for Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien.

Garibay Isais was arrested in April 2025 for driving without a license after leaving a drug stash house. While being booked into jail, records showed that Garibay Isais was unlawfully residing in the United States and had been previously removed in September 2023.

According to court records, Garibay Isais has a history of removals from the United States. He was first removed in 1998 after being convicted in the Western District of Texas for Fraud with Identification Documents. He was removed again in 2015 after being convicted in the District of Colorado for Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine.

Although law enforcement was unable to tie Garibay Isais directly to the drug house, he previously admitted to supplementing his income through “drug trading.” This admission, combined with his history of convictions and removals, highlights the seriousness of his crimes.

U.S. District Judge John D. Russell ordered Garibay Isais to serve 21 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release. Garibay Isais is expected to face removal proceedings following his sentence. He will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam McConney. The sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of unlawfully reentering the United States after being removed, and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and other crimes.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced the sentencing, emphasizing the importance of enforcing immigration laws and protecting national security. The case of Francisco Javier Garibay Isais is a prime example of the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to prevent and prosecute crimes related to unlawful reentry and drug trafficking.
