Frank James, the mastermind behind the horrific subway mass shooting that terrorized New York City in 2022, has finally faced justice. On April 12th, 2022, during the morning rush hour, James unleashed a premeditated attack on unsuspecting New Yorkers trapped in a subway car, firing 32 shots and seriously wounding 10 people.
On [April 12th, 2022], Frank James orchestrated a death trap in the heart of New York City, purchasing smoke bombs, disguises, and guns in preparation for the attack. In the weeks leading up to the attack, he scouted the location and completed multiple practice runs. On the day of the attack, when the train was between stations, James put his evil plan into action, setting off a smoke bomb and firing at his victims 32 times in a closed subway car.
Fortunately, no one died in the attack, but 16 of the 32 bullets struck the bodies of the cornered, innocent victims. The victims, including those who were wounded physically, those who witnessed the horrific act, and those who put themselves at risk to help, will live with these traumatic events for the rest of their lives.
Frank James was sentenced to 10 concurrent sentences of life in prison, plus an additional 10-year consecutive sentence for his heinous crime. The victims, not just those who were wounded physically, but also those who witnessed this horrific act, and others who put themselves at risk to help, will live with these traumatic events for the rest of their lives.
The impact and fear from the attack were felt beyond the direct victims in that subway car and station that morning, terrorizing the city at large. Schools were on lockdown, and parents rushed to pick up their kids to ensure their safety. People feared taking the subway, and no one knew whether there would be additional attacks.
We would like to thank our law enforcement partners who helped us secure justice in this case, including the FBI, the NYPD, the entire New York Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which provided critical assistance along the way.
The victims of this horrific attack will never be forgotten, and we hope that Frank James’ sentencing will bring some sense of closure and justice to those affected.
