Miguel Angel Dorantes, Child Sex Exploitation, California 2024

Grimy Times Exclusive: A Fresno man has been hit with Federal charges for what law enforcement is calling a despicable crime against minors. Miguel Angel Dorantes, also known as Miguel Castro, 28, faces an array of charges after being accused of sexually exploiting children and distributing obscene material.

Dorantes stands accused of using three minors to create graphic depictions of sexual activity between November 6, 2021, and May 7, 2025. The investigation revealed that Dorantes provided obscene content to a minor just last year.

The operation to nab Dorantes was a joint effort by Homeland Security Investigations and the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany M. Gunter is now handling the prosecution.

Should Dorantes be convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison for each count of sexual exploitation of a minor, along with a mandatory minimum of 15 years and fines reaching $250,000 per offense. The transfer of obscene material charge could land him an additional 10 years in the clink and similar fines.

These charges are only allegations at this stage; Dorantes is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. His sentencing would be determined by the court based on various factors, including the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. For more information on this initiative, please visit www.usdoj.gov/psc.
