Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that FUGUAN LOVICK, a/k/a “Fu Banga,” has pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to shooting inside the Barclays Center on April 21, 2018.
According to Berman, Lovick, while at the venue with gang member Tekashi 6ix 9ine and others from the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, discharged a firearm to intimidate rivals. The brazen act is part of a string of violent acts committed by the gang in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
LOVICK, 42, faces a maximum sentence of life for brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and up to 20 years for assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering. His sentencing is scheduled before Judge Paul A. Engelmayer on August 19, 2019.
The DOJ has commended the New York City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their outstanding investigative work. The Kings County District Attorney’s Office also played a crucial role in the investigation.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Michael Longyear, Jacob Warren, Jonathan Rebold, and Sebastian Swett, who are members of the Violent and Organized Crime Unit.
