Texas Man Sent to Prison for Reentering US Illegally
A repeat offender has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. Gabriel Rodriguez-Martinez, a 42-year-old Mexican man, pleaded guilty to the charges on March 28, 2025.
U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. ordered Rodriguez-Martinez to serve 60 months in prison. Not a U.S. citizen, he is expected to face removal proceedings following his imprisonment.
Rodriguez-Martinez has a history of felony convictions, including multiple driving while intoxicated offenses. He was first removed from the United States in September 2014 and returned illegally again.
Immigration Customs Enforcement – Enforcement Removal Operations conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Ana C. Cano prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to protect communities from violent crime and the perpetrators of it.
Rodriguez-Martinez will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
The 60-month sentence is a result of Rodriguez-Martinez’s guilty plea and his history of felony convictions.
