Garden City Man Sentenced to 13 Years for Gun Charge
A Garden City man is behind bars after a guilty plea to a federal firearms charge. Anthony J. Reyna, 24, of Garden City, Kansas, has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction.
According to the investigation, Reyna sold a handgun to an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on November 13, 2012. The two met near a Home Depot store in Garden City. Reyna’s prior felony conviction prohibited him from possessing a firearm under federal law.
The case was commended by U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, who praised the work of the Garden City Police Department, the ATF, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch.
Reyna’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement in the fight against gun-related crimes.
A full investigation by the Garden City Police Department, the ATF, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch led to Reyna’s arrest and prosecution.
Reyna’s sentence serves as a reminder that violating federal gun laws can have severe consequences.
