SCRANTON, Pennsylvania – A Luzerne County man has been indicted for his role in distributing and possessing child pornography.
Garfet Todd Patton, a 60-year-old man from Dallas, Pennsylvania, was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 10, 2024, on three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography depicting minors engaging in sexual activity.
According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the offenses took place in Luzerne County between June and September 2024.
The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is prosecuting the case.
A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The combined maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is eighty years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
