Garfield Heights, Ohio – In a gritty tale of drug dealing and defiance, 27-year-old Deion Thompson, alias Sino Grams, faces an eight-count indictment for distributing heroin and illegally possessing a firearm. United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach announced the charges today.
The defendant, who has made multiple sales of heroin in June and July, was caught with 66 grams of the deadly substance and a 9 mm Browning pistol on July 7th, despite prior convictions in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. Thompson’s record includes drug trafficking offenses with a schoolyard specification, having weapons under disability, and failure to comply with a police order.
Dettelbach made it clear that the community is being targeted: “This defendant sold heroin on our streets and had a gun despite being prohibited from having one. We will continue to work to reduce the supply of drugs in our neighborhoods while working with other partners to reduce demand.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Henry F. DeBaggis is handling the case, which was investigated by the Southeast Law Enforcement Task Force, a collaborative effort among several police departments including Bedford, Bedford Heights, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Solon, Oakwood, and Walton Hills.
The severity of Thompson’s sentence will be determined by the court after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and unique factors related to this case, such as his prior criminal record and role in the offense. It’s important to note that an indictment is only a charge, and the defendant is entitled to a fair trial where the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Deion Thompson’s grimy track record as a drug kingpin continues to make headlines in the gritty streets of Garfield Heights, Ohio.
