Gary Ray Evans, Jr. Methamphetamine Trafficking, Alabama 2016

MOBILE, AL – In a shocking turn of events, Gary Ray Evans, Jr., 38, of Richton, Mississippi, was sentenced to 151 months in prison following his plea of guilty to a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine ice.

According to court documents, Evans was discovered in a hotel room in Mobile with approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine ice. The discovery was made by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, who worked together to bring Evans to justice.

Evans was on supervised release from a prior federal drug conviction at the time of his arrest on the new charge. His guilty plea was entered in June of 2016.

United States District Court Judge William H. Steele imposed the 151 month sentence, and ordered that Evans undergo drug treatment and counseling while on a three-year-term of supervised release, which will commence when he is released from his prison sentence.

Judge Steele also ordered that Evans pay a $100 special mandatory assessment, but did not impose a fine. The case was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office by Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell.
