Florence Man Sentenced to Over 11 Years on Federal Drug Charge

Cederic Sharnard Bruce, a 31-year-old man from Florence, South Carolina, has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a large-scale cocaine distribution operation in the Pee Dee region. On Monday, United States District Judge Bruce H. Hendricks of Charleston handed down a 140-month prison sentence to Bruce for his involvement in the ongoing drug distribution conspiracy investigation.

According to evidence presented in court, Bruce and his associates were subjects of an investigation dating back to 2005, led by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, the Florence Police Department, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Pee Dee Violent Crimes Task Force.

In July 2013, a Florence Police Department officer stopped a vehicle in which Bruce and others were traveling. A subsequent search of the car uncovered a quantity of cocaine and cocaine base hidden in the vehicle.

The case was investigated by agents from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, the Florence Police Department, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Pee Dee Violent Crimes Task Force.
