Briana White, Armed Bank Robbery Murder, Indiana 2024

GARY, INDIANA – In a shocking turn of events, Briana White, 29, of Gary, Indiana, was sentenced to 300 months in prison without parole for her involvement in the brutal armed bank robbery that resulted in the murder of a security guard.

According to sources, White, along with her co-conspirators, hatched a plan to rob the bank in Gary, Indiana on June 11, 2021. The plan went awry when Hailey Gist-Holden, a co-defendant, shot and killed the bank’s security guard at point-blank range. The heist resulted in the theft of approximately $9,000.

White’s role in the crime was significant, as she facilitated a three-way call between herself, Gist-Holden, and the getaway driver during the robbery and getaway. She also listened to a police scanner to advise her co-conspirators about police response.

This is not the first time that White has faced justice for her crimes. Co-defendant Gist-Holden was previously found guilty by a jury of armed bank robbery and murder resulting from the discharge of a firearm during the robbery. Gist-Holden was sentenced to two life sentences for his role in the offense.

The case was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Gang Response Investigative Team, with the assistance of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office, the Indiana State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Gary Police Department. Additional investigative assistance was provided by the FBI Chicago, FBI Miami, and FBI Atlanta, along with the Georgia State Police, the Atlanta Police Department, and the Lowndes County (GA) Sheriff’s Department.

This case is part of the Department’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve. The Department has launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on core principles, including fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
