UTICA, NEW YORK – Gilberto Trevizo-Molina, 46, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced today to time served for illegally re-entering the United States.
Gilberto Trevizo-Molina, a 46-year-old Mexican citizen, was sentenced to time served after being convicted of illegally re-entering the United States.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Trevizo-Molina was removed to Mexico on May 29, 2007, but unlawfully returned to the United States. On February 8, 2017, he was arrested by Border Patrol agents at a checkpoint on New York State Route 30.
Trevizo-Molina was residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the time of his arrest. Following his sentencing, he was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security, which will place him into removal proceedings.
United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Chief Patrol Agent John C. Pfeifer, United States Border Patrol, Swanton Sector, announced the sentencing. As part of his guilty plea, Trevizo-Molina admitted to unlawfully returning to the United States after his removal.
This case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward P. Grogan.
Trevizo-Molina was sentenced by United States District Judge David N. Hurd. The exact charges against Trevizo-Molina were not specified in the announcement.
