Grimy Times has learned that Gordon Andrew Messerly, Jr., a 42-year-old man, admitted to assaulting his dating partner on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation in Montana.
The alleged assault occurred on December 27, 2019, and left the victim, identified as Jane Doe, with substantial injuries. Doe was treated at a hospital following the incident.
Gordon Messerly, Jr. pleaded guilty to assault resulting in substantial bodily injury, a federal charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided over the hearing. The judge has set sentencing for October 7. Messerly is currently being held in detention pending further proceedings.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Fort Belknap Law Enforcement, with assistance from Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared C. Cobell in prosecuting the case.
