Greenfield Gunman Tobin White Jailed for 15 Months

Bangor, Maine — In a grim turn of events, Tobin White, 42, from Greenfield Township, Maine, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The sentence was handed down by Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr., in U.S. District Court.

White’s conviction stems from January 17, 2014, when he pleaded guilty to an indictment involving his unauthorized possession of a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol. The incident unfolded on February 12, 2013, when law enforcement executed a search warrant at White’s residence in Greenfield.

As officers approached the home, they found White outside with a flashlight and the pistol in hand. Upon police identification, he was ordered to the ground and found in possession of the gun, which was holstered next to him.

This sentence comes as a severe blow for White, who had previously been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence (assault) in 2003, making it illegal for him to possess firearms. The case against White was a collaborative effort by the Maine Warden Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Maine State Police.

United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty, II, emphasized the seriousness of the offense, stating that the sentence reflects the commitment to keep guns out of the hands of those who are prohibited from owning them. Assistant United States Attorney F. Todd Lowell was in contact for this case, reachable at (207) 945-0373.

White’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by individuals who flout gun laws and pose risks to public safety. The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to firearms or other illegal activities.
