Wendell White, Crack Distribution Conspiracy, Maine 2013

Wendell White, 52, of Rumford, Maine — formerly of Bangor — was sentenced to five years in federal prison and three years of supervised release for his role in a multi-year crack distribution conspiracy that flooded the Bangor area with nearly a kilogram of the drug.

U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. handed down the sentence after White pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute cocaine base. The charges stem from a network that operated between January 2010 and August 2013, sourcing crack from New Haven, Connecticut, and pushing it through Penobscot County and beyond.

Court records detail how White sold half-gram and gram quantities of crack for $50 and $100 apiece, acting as a street-level dealer for Christian Turner, a/k/a “P,” and Rodrigo Ramirez, a/k/a “Rico.” He wasn’t just moving weight — he allowed the pair and others to use his Sanford Street apartment in Bangor, where he lived with his three-year-old son, as a hub for drug sales and use.

The operation stretched far beyond local corners. The supply chain traced back to violent gang elements in New Haven, including members of the Red Side Guerilla Brims, a faction tied to the Almighty Blood Nation, a notorious national street gang with a history of brutality and organized crime.

White’s arrest and conviction were the result of a joint investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ New Haven office, and the New Haven Department of Police Services — a multi-agency push to dismantle an interstate narcotics pipeline.

U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II confirmed the sentencing, underscoring federal and state efforts to target drug networks that exploit vulnerable communities. For White, the five-year sentence marks the end of a dark chapter rooted in addiction, violence, and betrayal of public trust.
