Kristen Shearer, Fentanyl Possession, Pennsylvania 2024

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Kristen Shearer, a 24-year-old resident of Greenville, Pennsylvania, has been handed down a sentence for her conviction on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, specifically fentanyl.

Chief United States District Court Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence, which includes time served or up to 200 days in prison followed by two years of supervised release.

The case against Shearer stemmed from an August 9, 2017, search warrant executed at a residence in Pittsburgh’s Elliot section, where law enforcement targeted Lynell Guyton. Shearer and three others were present when large amounts of narcotics and packaging paraphernalia were discovered, with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirming that cyclopropyl fentanyl was among the recovered substances.

Shearer admitted to packaging some of the stamp bags containing the dangerous drug. Assistant United States Attorney Shanicka L. Kennedy prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The investigation leading to Shearer’s prosecution was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
