A Lyndonville, New York resident was sentenced to 30 months in prison for being an alien in possession of a firearm.
The sentencing of Gregorio Salinas-Guzman, a native of Mexico, is the result of an investigation by the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth T. Molisani, Salinas-Guzman had no lawful status in the United States and was found to be in possession of multiple firearms, including two 20 gauge shotguns, a rifle, and a .22 caliber revolver, as well as 207 rounds of ammunition.
Salinas-Guzman was also found to be in possession of a counterfeit Social Security card and a fraudulent Permanent Resident Card.
The investigation, which was led by the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force under the direction of Sheriff Randy Bower, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations, under the direction of Thomas E. Feely, Director of Field Operations, resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Salinas-Guzman’s residence on Alps Road in Lyndonville on March 15, 2018.
The sentencing is a significant victory for law enforcement and highlights the importance of enforcing our nation’s immigration laws.
A native of Mexico, Salinas-Guzman was residing in Lyndonville, New York, and was convicted of being an alien in possession of a firearm.
