Gregory Fiocca, Unlawful Demand for Money, Pennsylvania 2024

PHILADELPHIA – A brazen case of corruption has shaken the city’s labor union community as Gregory Fiocca, a 32-year-old member of Local 98, pleaded guilty to unlawfully seeking money from his union employer for hours not worked.

According to court documents, Fiocca, a resident of Philadelphia, demanded payment from his employer for hours he did not work, a clear violation of union regulations and labor laws.

The superseding information charging Fiocca with unlawfully demanding money as a union representative from a union employer, arising from the defendant’s demand to be paid for hours he did not work, in an amount not exceeding $1,000, was accepted by United States District Court Judge Jeffrey L. Schmehl.

Fiocca is scheduled to be sentenced on January 7, 2025, and faces a statutory maximum sentence of one year imprisonment, one year of supervised release, a $10,000 fine, and a $25 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Frank Costello and Jason Grenell. This high-profile case highlights the importance of maintaining integrity within labor unions and the consequences of violating federal laws.

As the investigation unfolds, it is essential to remember that union representatives are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The guilty plea by Fiocca serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences that await those who betray this trust.
