David Delaney, Bank Fraud Conspiracy, Louisiana 2015

GRETNAS, LA – The United States Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that David Delaney, a 57-year-old resident of Gretna, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

According to court documents, Delaney, who served as a technician for A & H Armature Works, Inc., is alleged to have embezzled funds from the company’s account at First American Bank. He conspired with an unnamed individual to siphon off company funds using PayPal and American Express accounts.

The crime carries a heavy penalty: Delaney faces up to five years in prison, a fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release following any imprisonment term. Sentencing has been scheduled for June 17, 2015, before U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan.

U.S. Attorney Polite commended the efforts of the United States Secret Service, New Orleans Field Division in their investigation of this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Loan “Mimi” Nguyen is overseeing the prosecution of Delaney.

Delaney’s actions have not only shaken the integrity of A & H Armature Works, Inc., but also serve as a stark reminder of the lengths some will go to for financial gain. As the community awaits sentencing, it remains to be seen what justice will bring to this case.
