Greydon Shangreaux, Attempted Possession of Child Pornography, South Dakota 2021

Greydon Shangreaux, a 25-year-old man from White River, South Dakota, has been sentenced for his involvement in a sex trafficking operation during the 2019 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

According to sources, Shangreaux was arrested and federally indicted after engaging in online communications with an undercover agent who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. He proceeded to request nude photographs and negotiate a time and place to meet the minor to engage in unlawful sex acts.

Shangreaux was arrested when he went to the pre-determined location to meet the minor, only to be met by law enforcement agents.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case, which ultimately led to Shangreaux’s sentencing.

On September 3, 2021, Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court, sentenced Shangreaux to time served, equal to approximately three and 1/2 months in custody, followed by five years of supervised release.

Shangreaux was also ordered to pay a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100 and will be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
