Joshua Grimm, Child Pornography Distribution, Kansas 2023

WICHITA, KAN. – Joshua Grimm, 33, of Leavenworth, Kansas, will spend the next two decades in federal prison after being sentenced Monday for distributing horrific child pornography. The sentence comes after Grimm chillingly confessed to sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl, details revealed during the sentencing hearing.

Grimm pleaded guilty to one count of distributing child pornography, a charge stemming from a disturbing online exchange. Federal prosecutors detailed how the investigation began in June 2016 when Grimm began communicating with an undercover detective with an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Arizona. This wasn’t some accidental sharing; Grimm actively bragged about his crimes.

In a chatroom conversation, Grimm didn’t just hint at abuse – he explicitly told the detective he had sexually abused a 4-year-old girl, even sending a photograph of the victim. This confession came while Grimm was already facing pending child molestation charges, showcasing a complete disregard for the law and the well-being of children. The depravity didn’t end there.

The investigation revealed Grimm had even fantasized about escalating his crimes. He chillingly told the detective he had “thought about kidnapping a young girl from a park or busy store,” revealing a dangerous and predatory mindset. This wasn’t a momentary lapse in judgment, but a clear pattern of disturbing thoughts and actions.

U.S. Attorney Tom Beall announced the 20-year sentence, a punishment he hopes will send a message that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated. “This case highlights the importance of vigilance in protecting our most vulnerable citizens,” Beall stated. The sentence should, at the very least, remove a dangerous predator from society.

The successful prosecution was a collaborative effort, with Beall specifically commending the work of the FBI, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Arizona, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Flannigan. The Grimy Times will continue to follow federal cases involving the exploitation of children, holding perpetrators accountable for their unspeakable acts.
