Xavier Orrin Hinds, a 44-year-old man from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was caught possessing firearms despite being a prohibited person due to prior felony convictions. The incident occurred on October 8, 2024, when law enforcement officers discovered Hinds with firearms after an automobile accident on I-229 in Sioux Falls. Hinds pleaded guilty on March 2, 2026, and was sentenced on June 8, 2026. He was found to be carrying a pistol on his person and had another handgun inside his car, despite knowing he was not allowed to possess firearms.
