Muskogee, Oklahoma – A Mexican national, MIGUEL ANGEL GUTIERREZ-CARRANZA, 29, has been sentenced to 51 months imprisonment followed by 3 years of supervised release for Illegal Reentry of a Previously Deported Alien Subsequent to Conviction for an Aggravated Felony. The sentence was handed down by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security – Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Gutierrez-Carranza was indicted in September 2013 and pleaded guilty in October 2013, according to records.
The Indictment alleges that Gutierrez-Carranza entered the United States on or about August 28, 2013, having been deported and removed from the country on December 3, 2011, near Del Rio, Texas. His conviction was for an aggravated felony in the District Court of Hughes County, Oklahoma.
Presiding over the hearing was The Honorable James H. Payne of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Gutierrez-Carranza will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal Service pending transportation to serve his nonparolable sentence at a designated federal facility.
Assistant United States Attorney Chris Wilson represented the United States during the proceedings.
