Guy Rosenschein, Child Pornography, New Mexico 2016

Albuquerque pediatric surgeon Guy Rosenschein, 63, is facing federal charges for his alleged involvement in the distribution and possession of child pornography.

According to a federal complaint filed in New Mexico, Rosenschein was identified as the owner of a computer with an IP address that was used to distribute child pornography on November 8, 2016. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) executed a search warrant at Rosenschein’s residence and allegedly found a thumb drive containing child pornography.

Rosenschein was arrested on November 8, 2016, on related state charges. He currently remains in federal custody, pending a preliminary hearing and a detention hearing, scheduled for Monday, November 14, 2016.

The federal complaint alleges that Rosenschein possessed and distributed child pornography on November 8, 2016, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. If convicted, Rosenschein faces a statutory mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison.

The investigation into Rosenschein’s alleged activities was led by the Albuquerque office of the FBI and the BCSO. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathon M. Gerson is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Rosenschein’s case is just one example of the ongoing effort to combat child exploitation and abuse. The federal government and law enforcement agencies are working together to identify and prosecute individuals who engage in these heinous crimes.
