Hanna N. DeCicco, 22, Charged with Straw Purchase of Firearms in Milwaukee
By: Sarah Johnson, Crime Journalist, Grimy Times
A 22-year-old Milwaukee woman has been charged with making a false statement to a federal firearms dealer, accused of being a straw purchaser of firearms.
Hanna N. DeCicco, 22, of Milwaukee, is facing one count of straw purchaser of firearm, a charge that carries a maximum of ten years of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
According to court documents, DeCicco knowingly made a false and fictitious statement that she was the actual buyer of the firearm, when in fact, she was acquiring the firearm for someone else.
The case was investigated by the Milwaukee Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin A. Wesson is prosecuting the case.
This case is being prosecuted as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, a federal, state, and local law enforcement collaboration to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals responsible for violent crimes in our neighborhoods.
Project Safe Neighborhoods’ strategy brings together all levels of law enforcement and community resources to reduce violent crime and improve the quality of life in all our neighborhoods.
DeCicco is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
