Miguel Dotel, Heroin and Fentanyl Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2024

SCRANTON – A Hazleton man has been sentenced to 51 months’ imprisonment for his role in a heroin and fentanyl trafficking operation.

Miguel Dotel, age 43, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion for conspiring to distribute approximately 200 grams of heroin and 250 grams of fentanyl.

According to Acting United States Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Dotel conspired with others to distribute the deadly drugs from approximately March 2018 through July 2019.

The heroin and fentanyl distribution operation resulted in approximately 2,000 individual doses of heroin being distributed in the community.

The matter was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and its state and local partners, including the Pennsylvania State Police.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffery St John prosecuted the case, which is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative.

The PSN program brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

The case is also part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin, known as the Heroin Initiative.

The Heroin Initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
