Carl David Davis, Explosive and Firearms Possession, Georgia 2024

Federal Prosecutors Target Hepzibah Man

In a move aimed at keeping the community safe, federal prosecutors have brought charges against Hepzibah resident Carl David Davis, 32, for his alleged involvement in firearms charges. According to sources, Davis is accused of possessing an explosive and multiple firearms despite being prohibited from doing so.

According to the indictment, in November 2018, Davis allegedly had two electric explosive detonators in his possession, which is a clear breach of the law. The following year, in September 2020, he is accused of possessing a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, while in October 2020, he allegedly had a .22 caliber rifle and four .32 caliber cartridges.

The indictment charges Davis with one count of “Possession of an Explosive by a Prohibited Person,” two counts of “Unlawful Possession of a Firearm,” and one count of “Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.” If convicted, Davis could face up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for each charge.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower is leading the prosecution of the case, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office providing crucial assistance in the investigation.

The indictment also requests the forfeiture of several items, including a 9mm pistol, 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a .22 caliber rifle, seven rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, one 12-gauge shotgun shell, and four rounds of .32 caliber ammunition.

An indictment is merely an accusation, and Davis is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The case will now proceed to trial, where a judge or jury will determine the outcome.
