PHOENIX, Arizona
A 177-charge crackdown on immigration-related criminal conduct in Arizona has seen the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona bring charges against 177 individuals. 80 of these cases involve aliens who illegally re-entered the United States, while 87 others were charged with illegally entering the United States.
Among the cases is Heriberto Medina, who was charged with Transportation of an Illegal Alien for Profit after Customs and Border Protection Officers discovered an individual hiding in his Toyota Camry at the Douglas Port of Entry on June 16, 2025. The case number is 25-MJ-08110.
Medina’s charge is part of a nationwide initiative called Operation Take Back America, which aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona worked with federal law enforcement partners, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), to refer or support these cases.
Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
