A notorious heroin pusher has been caught red-handed in Johnstown, Pa. Arvell D. Brandon, 38, of Johnstown, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws, announced Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song today.
According to the indictment, on May 10, 2016, Brandon distributed less than 100 grams of heroin in the city. This illicit activity has left the community in shock and concern for public safety.
The law provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000 or both for Brandon’s crime. However, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cambria County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Brandon.
An indictment is an accusation, and Brandon is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The community is holding its breath as the case unfolds, hoping for justice to be served.
