Hezekiah Carney, Kidnapping and Murder, Virginia 2023

A brutal gang-related kidnapping and murder case has led to life-changing prison sentences for two Virginia men.

Hezekiah Carney, 26, of Norfolk, Virginia, and Jayquan Jones, 22, of Richmond, Virginia, were each sentenced to 38 years in prison for federal charges relating to the kidnapping and murder of a fellow Almighty Black P. Stone gang member.

The victim, a 25-year-old mother of two, was assaulted and kidnapped by the defendants, who then drove her to a remote location in York County, Virginia. There, Jones and co-defendant Donnisha Goodman shot her at least eight times.

Goodman, 27, of Portsmouth, Virginia, pleaded guilty to using a firearm causing death and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Co-defendant Jamica Langley, 25, of Richmond, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiring to commit kidnapping.

The FBI, ATF, and state and local law enforcement agencies worked together to investigate the crime, which was committed on May 6, 2023. The Norfolk Police Department located the vehicle used in the crime the next day, recovering a 9mm cartridge that matched the casings found at the murder scene.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the senseless brutality associated with organized gangs and the importance of eradicating them from our communities.
