Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Lands Manderson Man Behind Bars

A 22-year-old man from Manderson, South Dakota, has been sentenced for his role in a violent assault that left another man seriously injured. Frank William Holy Rock was found guilty of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and has been handed a 24-month prison sentence, which will be followed by 3 years of supervised release. Holy Rock pled guilty to the charges on March 28, 2013. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.

Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, United States District Court, handed down the sentence on August 28, 2013. The assault highlights the dangers of violence and the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
