Homestead Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Club Shooting

PITTSBURGH – In a grim judicial reckoning, Edward Cook, 26, of Homestead, has been handed a 12-year prison sentence for his heinous act of firing upon Club Pink in Munhall. United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced the sentence today, a term that is to be followed by an additional five years of federal supervised release.

The incident, which occurred on or about Aug. 12, 2012, was not just a random act of violence but part of a broader conspiracy involving one kilogram or more of heroin trafficking. Cook’s shooting spree took place amidst the pulsating beats of Club Pink, leaving a trail of fear and destruction in its wake.

United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon imposed the sentence, bringing closure to a case that has haunted the community for years. Assistant United States Attorney Eric S. Rosen prosecuted the case with relentless dedication on behalf of the government.

This conviction is a testament to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, McKeesport Police Department, Munhall Police Department, and West Homestead Police Department. Their relentless pursuit of justice has led to the successful prosecution and sentencing of Cook.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended all involved for their tireless work in bringing this dangerous individual to justice. The sentence handed down today sends a clear message that violent acts will not be tolerated, and those who commit them will face severe consequences.
