Rosales-Lara’s crime came to light during his incarceration at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Beaumont. During a routine pat-down search inside his cell, authorities uncovered 15 individually wrapped bundles of methamphetamine, marking a significant seizure within the federal prison system.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a formidable nationwide initiative that mobilizes the Department of Justice’s full force to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and safeguard communities from violent crime. Operation Take Back America coordinates efforts between the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs, Rosales-Lara pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited object in prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Grove led the prosecution in this case, which has been a priority for law enforcement agencies.

The FBI conducted the investigation that led to Rosales-Lara’s conviction, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking networks within the United States.
