Houston James David Green, 24, of Chunchula, Alabama, is headed to federal prison for a decade after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine and brandishing firearms in support of the operation. The sentence, handed down this morning, lands with force after a string of arrests revealed a pattern of armed drug dealing across Mobile County.
Green admitted in April to two charges: conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking felony. Court records show he was arrested three times in just four months—each time caught red-handed with meth ice, large sums of cash, and loaded guns. The repeated run-ins painted a clear picture for federal prosecutors: a dangerous dealer operating with little regard for the law.
U.S. District Judge Kristi K. Dubose delivered the 10-year sentence, mandating five years for the drug charge and five years for the firearm charge—served consecutively. At the hearing, Judge Dubose cited a high likelihood of recidivism, noting the frequency and brazenness of Green’s offenses. A five-year term of supervised release will follow his prison term, during which he’ll face mandatory drug testing and treatment.
Green was also ordered to pay $200 in mandatory special assessments. In addition, Judge Dubose issued separate forfeiture orders for each firearm seized during the investigation—stripping Green of the tools he used to power his criminal enterprise.
The case was a joint effort by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Saraland Police Department, Citronelle Police Department, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Their collaboration dismantled a small but volatile node in the region’s drug trade, with agents tracing Green’s movements through surveillance, arrests, and forensic evidence.
Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted the case out of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama. U.S. Attorney Kenyen R. Brown confirmed the outcome, underscoring federal commitment to targeting armed drug traffickers who threaten community safety. Green now begins a long stretch behind bars, but the ripple of his actions will linger in Chunchula and beyond.
