Robert M. Hoy, Theft of Firearms, Indiana 2016

FOUR COUNTIES, INDIANA – Three men have been indicted on charges related to the movement of stolen firearms in Fulton and Wabash Counties, Indiana, according to a recent indictment.

Robert M. Hoy, 21, of North Manchester, Indiana, and Jose Rogelio Vera-Diaz, 21, of Mexico, were named in the first indictment for their alleged involvement in the theft of firearms from a licensed firearms dealer.

According to court documents, Hoy and Vera-Diaz stole one or more firearms from the Sand Burr Gun Ranch on November 20, 2016.

The second indictment names Charles M. Hammer, 30, of North Manchester, Indiana, who is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Hammer allegedly possessed a firearm in November and December of 2016, despite having previously been convicted of a felony offense.

The investigation into the stolen firearms was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in coordination with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, the North Manchester Police Department, and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.

Assistant United States Attorney Molly E. Donnelly is handling the case.

The United States Attorney’s Office emphasized that an indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

If convicted, Hammer faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, while Hoy and Vera-Diaz each face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
