Hunter Geidl, Child Sex Abuse Material, Minnesota 2024

Hastings Man Sentenced to 198 Months for Child Sex Abuse Material

A 29-year-old man from Hastings, Minnesota has been sentenced to 198 months in prison for his involvement in the production and possession of child sex abuse material.

Hunter Geidl, 29, was sentenced in United States District Court for his multiple counts related to the production and possession of child sex abuse material, announced U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen.

According to court documents, Geidl knowingly possessed a video file of a minor victim engaging in sexually explicit activities on May 19, 2022. Additionally, from July 29, 2022, until March 22, 2024, Geidl employed and used minor victims to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing sexually explicit video images.

U.S. District Judge Katherine M. Menendez handed down the sentence, stating that while Geidl may be a first-time defendant, he is not a first-time offender.

The case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI with assistance from the Hastings Police Department. It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Assistant U.S. Attorney LeeAnn K. Bell prosecuted the case.

Geidl will serve 198 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.

The FBI is urging anyone with information about additional victims of Geidl who have not yet been identified to contact them at 1-800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324) or tips.fbi.gov.
