South Bend, IN – Three individuals have been charged in connection with a brazen firearms heist at the Sand Burr Gun Ranch in Indiana.
The United States Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, David Capp, announced separate indictments against Robert M. Hoy, 21, from North Manchester; Jose Rogelio Vera-Diaz, also known as Rogelio Diaz, 21, from Mexico; and Charles M. Hammer, 30, also from North Manchester.
Hoy and Diaz are each accused of stealing firearms from a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL), Sand Burr Gun Ranch. Hammer faces charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, the trio’s criminal activities began on November 20, 2016, when Hoy and Diaz stole one or more firearms from the licensed gun dealer. In the months that followed, Hammer possessed a firearm despite having been previously convicted of a felony offense.
The United States Attorney’s Office emphasized that an indictment is merely an allegation, and all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Sentencing will be determined by the judge after considering federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
This investigation was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and local law enforcement agencies including the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, the North Manchester Police Department, and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Molly E. Donnelly is handling the case.
