Dahveed Dean, a 40-year-old inmate at United States Penitentiary Canaan in Waymart, Pennsylvania, has been indicted on federal charges for assaulting a corrections officer in a violent September altercation behind bars. According to the indictment unsealed in Scranton, Dean punched the officer in the face during a confrontation, causing minor injuries. The corrections officer, a federal employee, was on duty at the time of the assault. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, led by Bruce D. Brandler, announced the charges following a federal grand jury’s decision.
