Inmate Pasius Pleads Guilty To Drug Smuggling Attempt

Dieuny Pasius, a 26-year-old inmate locked up at the Federal Correctional Institution-Berlin, has admitted to trying to sneak in the highly dangerous drug Alpha-PVP, also known as Flakka. The synthetic cathinone is a Schedule I controlled substance, commonly referred to as bath salts.

Acting United States Attorney John J. Farley broke the news today, revealing that Pasius was caught red-handed after attempting to possess the illegal substance. According to court documents and statements at his plea hearing, the 26-year-old inmate sent a coded message concealed in a letter. When deciphered, it directed someone to send Flakka to him through clandestine methods.

The prison staff were alerted when they noticed that certain words in the letter were highlighted. Upon discovering the secret message and its sinister intent, authorities swiftly moved to apprehend Pasius and seize the drug before it could be distributed within the facility.

Pasion will have to face the music once more on September 22, 2017, when his sentencing hearing is set to take place. As per federal law, any sentence he receives for this charge must be served consecutively to any other term he is currently serving.

Leading the investigation was the Bureau of Prisons, with Assistant United States Attorney Donald Feith handling the prosecution. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by drug trafficking within correctional facilities and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to combat such threats.
