Isiah Heyward, Assaulting a Federal Officer, Pennsylvania 2016

Assault on a Federal Officer Rocks Pennsylvania Community

Isiah Heyward, a 24-year-old man from Sicklerville, New Jersey, has been charged with assaulting a federal officer in Pennsylvania, announced Acting United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen. The indictment alleges that Heyward forcibly assaulted, resisted, opposed, impeded, intimidated and interfered with a Correctional Officer of the Federal Bureau of Prisons while the officer was engaged in his official duties.

According to the indictment, the assault occurred on or about December 10, 2016. If convicted, Heyward faces a maximum sentence of 8 years’ imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffery W. Whitt.

An indictment, information, or criminal complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Heyward’s alleged actions not only put the federal officer in harm’s way but also disrupted the entire correctional facility. The community is left wondering how such an incident could occur and what measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As the investigation unfolds, the people of Pennsylvania will be watching closely to see how this case is handled and what consequences Heyward will face if found guilty.
