Jack Dymond Leach, Child Sex Abuse, Florida 2024

Jack Dymond Leach, a 43-year-old St. Augustine business owner, has been indicted on serious charges of attempting to produce child sexual abuse materials, receipt of child sexual abuse materials, and possession of child sexual abuse materials.

According to court documents, Leach engaged in conversations on an online chat platform during which he paid money to receive child sex abuse images. An investigation into the account resulted in Leach being identified. Federal search warrants were executed at Leach’s home and business in St. Augustine where law enforcement seized numerous electronic devices.

A forensic examination of the devices revealed child sexual abuse material. Leach is facing a significant prison sentence if convicted: up to 30 years for the attempted production offense, up to 20 years for each receipt and possession offense.

Leach’s indictment is a result of a joint investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, and the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ashley Washington.

Leach’s charges are part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

An indictment is merely a formal charge, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Leach’s case will proceed through the federal court system, and his fate will be determined by the outcome of the trial.
