A Horseheads, NY man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for producing child pornography, federal authorities announced Wednesday.
Daniel Sayre, 31, was convicted of producing child pornography and sentenced to 228 months (19 years) in prison and 30 years supervised release by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, Sayre produced a sexually explicit video and still images of a minor related to him who was under the age of 12 between January 2014 and February 2015.
The images were produced using a computer and a Samsung camera, authorities said.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Rochester Police Department, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations, the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Craig Hanesworth, and the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, under the direction of Weedon Wetmore.
Sayre’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the importance of the ongoing efforts to prevent and prosecute these crimes.
