Jack Lee Nimrick Sentenced for Child Pornography Possession

PEORIA, Ill. – A shocking revelation in the battle against child exploitation: Jack Lee Nimrick, 43, of Peoria, has been sentenced to ten years and one day for possessing obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children.

Nimrick’s dark descent into criminality began in 2015 when he was convicted of distributing child pornography. Sentenced to nine years behind bars followed by a daunting 15 years of supervised release, Nimrick was already a registered sex offender.

However, his transgressions did not end there. While on supervised release, authorities discovered an unmonitored cellphone capable of internet access. A delve into the device revealed over 150 computer-generated images and 50 animated videos depicting the sexual abuse of children, aged from four to teenage years.

Arrested in October 2023 for violating his supervised release terms, Nimrick faced federal charges and entered a guilty plea earlier this year. The court heard that he had failed to register his cellphone as required by the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act, ignored the U.S. Probation Office’s Computer and Internet Monitoring Program, and possessed illegal images.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ronald L. Hanna led the government’s prosecution against Nimrick. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative targeting child sexual exploitation. For more on this vital effort, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.

Upon his release from prison, Nimrick will serve a three-year term of supervised release, facing enhanced penalties due to his prior sex offense conviction.
