SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Jack Ray Snyder, a 63-year-old former UC Davis veterinarian, was sentenced to six months in prison, six months home detention, and a $30,000 fine for tax evasion, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
Snyder was also ordered to pay $134,497 in restitution for underreporting his income in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and deducting items that were not deductible between 2011 and 2014, resulting in an additional tax liability of approximately $134,497.
According to court documents, Snyder’s tax evasion scheme spanned over three years, with the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation leading the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Roger Yang prosecuted the case.
