SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In a move to bolster efforts against white collar crime, U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch has appointed U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner to co-chair the White Collar/Fraud Subcommittee of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee (AGAC).

Wagner, who previously served as a member of the AGAC from 2010 to 2013, will work alongside Melinda Haag, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California, to represent the voice of the 93 U.S. Attorneys in matters relating to white collar crime.

The White Collar/Fraud Subcommittee reports to the AGAC and addresses matters of white collar crime.

Wagner’s appointment is seen as a significant move to combat white collar crime, which continues to plague California and the nation. As co-chair of the subcommittee, Wagner will work closely with Haag to develop strategies to prevent and prosecute white collar crimes.

“We are committed to pursuing justice and protecting the public from white collar crime,” said Attorney General Lynch. “U.S. Attorney Wagner’s experience and expertise make him an ideal candidate to serve as co-chair of the White Collar/Fraud Subcommittee.”

In related news, the AGAC has also appointed Wagner to serve on several other subcommittees, including those focusing on Civil Rights and Terrorism and National Security. Wagner’s experience and expertise make him a valuable asset to these subcommittees, and his appointment is seen as a significant move to strengthen efforts against these types of crimes.”
