Beggs Man Sentenced to 57 Months for Felon in Possession of Firearm
MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a shocking turn of events, JACKIE LEON PARKER, JR, a 42-year-old resident of Beggs, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 57 months imprisonment for his role in a brazen case of felon in possession of firearm.
According to court documents, on or about May 23, 2016, PARKER, JR knowingly possessed a firearm, which had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce, while having been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.
The charges against PARKER, JR arose from an investigation by the Checotah Police Department, the Okmulgee Police Department, the Okmulgee District Attorney’s Office, the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing and handed down the severe sentence. PARKER, JR will remain in custody pending transportation to the designated federal facility at which the nonparoleable sentence will be served.
Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the United States in this high-profile case, bringing the perpetrator to justice.
