A New York gang member, Jamal Adamson, has pleaded guilty to racketeering and drug trafficking offenses, including a 2010 murder in East Harlem.
According to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, Adamson was a member of the Cash Money Boys gang, which was involved in numerous acts of violence, including murder, attempted murder, robberies, and assaults in and around Manhattan.
Adamson, 28, of New York, New York, pleaded guilty to a Superseding Information charging him with one count of racketeering conspiracy and one count of narcotics distribution conspiracy.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and Adamson faces significant prison time for his crimes.
The Cash Money Boys gang was a criminal enterprise that controlled drug sales in the vicinity of Lexington Avenue between East 122nd Street and East 123rd Street, and members of the gang engaged in violence to retaliate against rival gangs, to promote the standing and reputation of the gang, and to protect the gang’s narcotics sales.
On or about June 20, 2010, Adamson shot and killed David Moore, 23, near the corner of East 122nd Street and Lexington Avenue.
The case is being prosecuted by the Office’s Violent and Organized Crime Unit, and Mr. Williams praised the outstanding work of the New York City Police Department and the Special Agents of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
The statutory maximum penalties are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant would be determined by the judge.
The defendant, Jamal Adamson, will be sentenced and faces a significant prison time for his crimes.
