A group of brazen thieves struck the Security Home Bank in Malmo, Nebraska on November 22, 2017, making off with a whopping $20,479.00.
James Charles Fentress-Dismuke, 21, was one of the individuals involved in the heist. He, along with Corita Burnett, Jonathan Franklin, and Vincent McGee, orchestrated the robbery with Franklin allegedly planning and organizing the participants.
Fentress-Dismuke took matters into his own hands, entering the bank brandishing a firearm and donning a black ski mask and gloves. Fortunately, law enforcement was hot on the trail of the suspects, recovering all but $100 of the stolen cash.
Franklin was pulled over shortly after the robbery, and officers found a mask and two loaded handguns in the trunk of his car. The evidence was a clear indication of his involvement in the crime.
Fentress-Dismuke, along with his accomplices, faced the music in federal court on December 14, 2018. The Honorable Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down a sentence of 194 months, which translates to 16 years and 2 months, for his role in the bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
The federal system has no parole, so Fentress-Dismuke will serve every day of his sentence. After completing his time behind bars, he will begin a five-year term of supervised release. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay $100 in restitution.
The case was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation Great Plains Robbery Task Force, the Omaha Police Department Robbery Unit, the Saunders County Sheriff’s Department, the Wahoo Police Department, the Yutan Police Department, and the Nebraska State Patrol.
