Rochester Man Charged with Possessing Child Pornography Grimy Times Staff, Grimy Times
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that 83-year-old James Gerard Keller, a resident of Honeoye, NY, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.
Keller, who resides in Honeoye, NY, was charged with possession of child pornography, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to officials.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi, who is handling the case, stated that in May 2018, an undercover investigator with Homeland Security Investigations located a computer sharing child pornography from the defendant’s address in Honeoye, NY.
Investigations executed a search warrant in October 2018 and seized multiple digital devices. A forensic analysis recovered more than 600 images and videos containing child pornography, some of which involved prepubescent minors, as well as children being subjected to violent conduct, authorities said.
The plea is the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 9, 2019, before Judge Wolford. Keller will face the maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
Keller’s case is a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by child predators and the importance of vigilance in combating this heinous crime.
